ELWIN is a luxury sustainable womens clothing brand made in England. We create modern, versatile clothes and knitwear which are designed to last using natural fabrics and quality manufacturing. We design clothes to feel at ease in, effortless styles that can be worn for years to come so you can buy less and wear for longer. Our designs have an understated aesthetic, fluid modern silhouettes and subtle details so that they can transcend seasons.
We want your clothes to bring you joy and make you feel good so you feel comfortable in yourself. The clothes that you make memories in, that stay in your wardrobe year on year.
We are striving to find a way to create clothes that doesn’t harm people or the planet, this is the beginning of an evolving journey.
"Clothes for me have emotional resonance, I have things I’ve owned for many years (decades even) and wear over and over. They develop a history. I like the stories of clothes."
I had an early introduction to knitwear, my Grandma knitted all of my clothes. I have always loved sketching, sewing and all kinds of craft. I studied womenswear fashion at Central St Martins and loved every minute of it. Having worked in both luxury fashion and marketing for 20 years, and had a knitwear brand for 3 years, I wanted to challenge myself to create clothes in a circular way that doesn’t damage the planet.
It only takes a moment standing in a high street store, surrounded by rails of garments on sale, to know that we need to change how we make and consume fashion. There’s no point being sustainable if the pieces aren’t desirable – so I try to create modern, effortless designs that work for everyday and are lasting both in style and quality.
Deanne, Founder
We make small batches to minimise waste. Rather than develop a new collection each season, we have a continuous and evolving collection. We use surplus fabric from the luxury fashion industry that would otherwise go to landfill to reduce our environmental impact.
Everything is designed and cut in our East London studio. We make some pieces in house and the rest is made locally in small workshops. This enables us to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible and support local industry. It also means that we personally know all of the people who make our garments and that our business benefits our local community.
Our founding ethos is to be a socially conscious business that has a positive impact on people and the environment.
We seek to give back to the community and work with social enterprises where possible.
We reject the fast fashion model, instead focusing on making small numbers of high quality garments designed to last with an emphasis on circularity, repair and reuse.
We are committed to fair pay, ethical working practices and transparency in all aspects of our business.
We believe in supporting our homegrown industry by only working with British suppliers and manufacturers.
We value craft and heritage skills and look to support and celebrate those wherever we can.
